Malcolm Hand

Malcolm is a Grade 11 student based in Singapore with a strong passion for football. Malcolm is currently Co-Captain of the UWCSEA Dover Boys Under-19 Varsity soccer team. He also plays in the Singapore Youth League, which is sponsored by the Football Association of Singapore, for the #1-ranked Phoenix Football Club. Previously, Malcolm was part of the Singapore Football Club’s winning Under-17 team in the Puma Youth Champions League. Malcolm has competed internationally, including a victorious campaign at the ISB Invitational in Bangkok, as well as playing in Spain in the Iber Cup in 2024, and being named a Young Player to Watch in the TIRO World Cup in Connecticut, U.S. Malcolm is a fan of Crystal Palace F.C. and was very happy to see them lift the FA Cup in May 2025, its first major trophy in nearly 120 years.

Beyond playing soccer, Malcolm is deeply interested in the science behind athletic performance. He studies Sports Science and Biology at school to better understand how fitness and training influence both physical ability and mental well-being. He is currently writing a research paper on the science of concussions in sports.

In addition to sports, Malcolm is actively involved in changing the world for the better, with a specific focus on kids’ health and the environment. Some organizations that Malcolm currently spends time supporting include The GUILD International College (About The Guild) which focuses on empowering differently-abled students aged 9 to 30 by offering a hands-on, skills-based curriculum that emphasizes independent living, vocational training, and personal development. The GUILD’s programs are tailored to individual needs and encompass areas such as arts, design, hospitality, and technology, all within a supportive environment that values kindness, compassion, and diversity. With small class sizes, specialized facilities, and a team of qualified educators and therapists, The GUILD equips students with the tools and confidence to thrive in further education, the workplace, and daily life. In addition, Malcolm is a long-time supporter and volunteer at ACRES (About ACRES). Dedicated to promoting animal welfare, ACRES operates a 24-hour wildlife rescue service, rehabilitating injured native animals and victims of the illegal wildlife trade. ACRES also engages in public education and collaborates with authorities to combat wildlife crime. Through community outreach and humane education programs, ACRES strives to foster a compassionate society that respects and protects animals.
